Prinz Harry: Ohne Meghan und Archie beim Cricket World Cup

Freudestrahlend geht der frisch gebackene Papa weiter seinen royalen Pflichten nach: Am Donnerstag nahm Prinz Harry an der Eröffnung des Cricket World Cups in London teil.

Obwohl er erst vor Kurzem zum ersten Mal Vater geworden ist, steckt Prinz Harry (34) bereits wieder voll und ganz in seinen royalen Verpflichtungen. Am Donnerstag eröffnete der Enkel von Queen Elizabeth II. (93) den Cricket World Cup 2019, der von nun an für sechs Wochen in London stattfindet. Das Besondere für Commonwealth-Jugendbotschafter Prinz Harry: Neun der zehn teilnehmenden Nationen stammen aus dem Commonwealth.

In seiner Rede erklärte Harry: „Die erste Cricket-Weltmeisterschaft fand 1975 in England statt, und ich freue mich, dass Grossbritannien wieder Gastgeber dieses wunderbaren globalen Sportereignisses mit zehn unglaublichen Teams sein wird, die sich dank der kulturellen Vielfalt Grossbritanniens so fühlen werden, als würden sie jedes Mal, wenn sie auf das Feld gehen, vor einem heimischen Publikum kämpfen.“

Today, The Duke of Sussex opened the @ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, a six-week tournament featuring the world’s top ten cricket teams – nine of which represent Commonwealth countries. As His Royal Highness said in his speech this morning: “The first ever cricket World Cup took place in England in 1975 and I'm delighted that the UK will once again play host to this wonderful global sporting event featuring ten incredible teams who, thanks to the UK’s cultural diversity, will feel as though they are competing in front of a home crowd every time they take to the field.” Today marks the fifth time England has hosted the Cricket World Cup. Tournaments like the @cricketworldcup are a huge opportunity to inspire kids all over the world in the power of sport – encouraging them to participate in activity that fosters teamwork, supports an active lifestyle, and builds a deep sense of community. Yesterday Her Majesty the Queen and The Duke hosted the ICC Cricket World Cup team captains at Buckingham Palace, and today His Royal Highness met with young people involved in cricket youth engagement programmes and local school children from the Henry Fawcett School. Over the next six weeks, over one million people are expected to attend cricket matches and World Cup activations in the eleven host venues across England and Wales, with a further 1.5 billion watching around the world. Der Terminkalender ist voll

Wie bereits am Mittwoch war er auch dieses Mal ohne seine kleine Familie vor Ort. Am Tag vor der Eröffnung des Wettbewerbs hatte er an der Seite seiner Grossmutter die Teamkapitäne der einzelnen Teams begrüsst und im Anschluss mit ihr die dritte Gartenparty des Jahres besucht. Auf die Feier begleitet wurde das Grossmutter-Enkel-Gespann unter anderem von zwei weiteren Queen-Enkelkindern, Prinzessin Beatrice (30) und Prinzessin Eugenie (29).

Am 6. Mai sind Prinz Harry und seine Ehefrau Herzogin Meghan (37) Eltern eines Jungen geworden. Der kleine Royal hört auf den Namen Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
